Are you passionate about history, human rights, and social issues? Are you intrigued by the stories of Displaced Persons (DPs) and the impact of forced labor on their lives? If so, we invite you to embark on a unique journey of discovery and reflection with our EU-funded project!
About the Project:
Our project, “Survival Paths” delves deep into the experiences of DPs after the Second World War, their living conditions, and the aftermath of forced labor. We aim to shed light on the human side of history, focusing on individual stories and experiences rather than broad historical narratives.
The project will take you on a journey to authentic historical sites in Poland, Germany and on a later stage also to Italy where you will have the opportunity to trace individual fates. Through these encounters, we aim to create a tangible connection between the past and the present, encouraging participants to reflect on human rights and the intricate link between economy and human rights.
When and Where:
1st – 2nd Event: SEMPTEMBER Wrocław/Lower Silesia, Eichstätt/Bavaria (Germany & Poland)
One whole week from September 21 till September 27
3rd Event: NOVEMBER/DECEMBER Apulia / Italy
4 days from November 30 till December 03
Who Can Apply:
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are:
- Between 20 and 30 years old.
- Sufficiant Written and oral English skills.
- Passionate about history, human rights, and social issues.
- Comfortable with the use of digital tools
- Open-minded, curious, and ready to engage in meaningful discussions and reflections.
What You Will Do:
As a participant, you will:
- Visit authentic historical sites in Wrocław/Lower Silesia, Eichstätt/Bavaria and Apulia (in December), gaining firsthand experience of the places that played a significant role in the lives of DPs.
- Engage with contemporary witnesses, listening to their stories and tracing their individual journeys.
- Reflect on the themes of human rights and the connection between economy and human rights, guided by experienced trainers.
- Share your experiences and the insights gained from the project on various platforms, contributing to a broader understanding and awareness of the issues at hand.
Costs:
Travel costs up to 250 euro per participants and per event; accommodation in shared rooms, meals and local transportation are covered.

Applications are for the first event in Poland and Germany. We welcome participants to take part in both events and give them priority for Italy. Free places for the event in Italy will being sought in a second call.
