Youth participation in Europe is more important than ever. The European Union is under pressure from many directions. More and more political movements question the European project. After the 2024 European elections, a Eurosceptic majority in the European Parliament even seems possible. At the same time, Europe faces urgent challenges. Refugees seeking protection put solidarity to the test. The war in Ukraine continues to strain societies. Moreover, while crises dominate the headlines, the climate emergency is pushed into the background.
Participate! – Empowering Youth in Europe
In this multitude of challenges, Participate! focuses on what unites us: solidarity, democracy, and the rule of law. The project highlights youth participation in Europe as a key to building a strong and resilient civil society.
Erasmus+ Youth Projects by Citizens of Europe e.V.
Over the next three years, Citizens of Europe e.V. will implement international trainings, youth exchanges, and Erasmus+ participation projects. The initiative strengthens youth work in Europe and follows three steps:
Step 1: Concept Phase
Together with partners, we design content and logistics for a training programme for youth and education workers.
Step 2: Rebuild Dialogue
We revive proven formats of dialogue between young people and decision-makers, starting in Berlin.
Step 3: Enable Participation
We develop creative methods that empower young people to implement local youth projects with European impact.
Lasting Impact for Youth Participation in Europe
Each year combines professional training for youth workers with direct youth exchanges and action phases. Therefore, the programme ensures continuity, stronger European networks, and a sustainable impact on youth participation in Europe.
Call for Partners and Participants
We especially welcome young participants with fewer opportunities. In addition, we invite committed organisations, trainers, and volunteers across Europe to contribute their expertise, themes, and networks – for a united and democratic Europe.
