Strategies, methods and tools for successful activities – Facilitate!

From 16 to 23 March 2024, Citizens of Europe e.V. organised the international training Strategies, methods and tools for successful activitiesFacilitate! in cooperation with Erasmus+.
The international facilitation training brought together 24 youth workers from Germany, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, and Portugal to strengthen their skills in non-formal education and youth work facilitation.

Objectives of the Facilitation Training

Strategies, methods and tools for successful activities – Facilitate! explored the role of facilitators in youth work:

  • Developing key facilitation skills such as communication, empathy, conflict management, and creativity
  • Learning methods to design and deliver impactful youth workshops
  • Promoting intercultural exchange and networking across Europe
  • Supporting follow-up workshops with local communities

Participants’ Experience at the Facilitation Training

The evaluation showed high satisfaction with both content and organisation. Participants valued the creativity, diversity of activities, and the inclusive atmosphere created by trainers.

Evaluation and Impact of Youth Work Training

Strengths: excellent organisation, balanced programme, diverse methods, strong group spirit, supportive trainers.
Improvements: more digital methods, additional Erasmus+ input, and more group bonding time.
Impact: Participants reported growth in professional competences (facilitation, communication, organisation) and personal development (confidence, teamwork, cultural awareness).

Outcomes and Follow-Up

Strategies, methods and tools for successful activities – Facilitate! ended with participants designing concrete follow-up workshops and projects in their local contexts. A mentoring phase ensures long-term impact, supported by dissemination activities across Europe.
